Because it is national dog day today I assume a lot of dog owners will be giving their pups special treatment, you know, a nice haircut, a doggy spa experience, some extra play time, maybe even painting their nails. Now, I don't own a dog, (I'm more of a cat person) so maybe the urge to paint the nails of your furry child comes naturally when you bring that ball of love home, but I personally think painting the nails of your pooch is just... creepy, but amusing - I also find booties on dogs creepy, it's just the way they walk. Polish on dogs is one of those things that I just can't take my eyes off of, I could look at pictures of lacquered dog paws for ever. I think because when it's done nicely, there's definitely some talent there!
As a nail tech though, I know that painting your nails makes you feel just one-click above the rest, I just can not imagine that your dog really cares about the aesthetic appearance of his/her claws, and also, it's a thankless task. No doubt you've just spent half an hour doing a sub-par paint job on a squirmy animal and are probably quite pleased with your efforts; and you should be! Only to have the dog walk off without a thank-you. I think people with the desire to paint an animals toenails should find a small child's fingers to paint. They would be thrilled to have a pretty colour on their fingertips and they treat it like gold! Just you watch!
I want to know your thoughts on doggy nail polish. Have you ever done it? What was your reason for wanting to? Can I see pictures??
